Education: an enlightening experience
The word Education is derived from the Latin term "Educu." This means "to draw out something meaningful and powerful from within." This process must be an enlightening experience. Although this sounds somewhat metaphysical, expert researchers have written about this for decades. Many people realized that they could change their lives for the better by observing and modeling important steps to gain their desired results. In other words, one searches for someone that he / she admires and who has already achieved the goals that the student desires to achieve. Yet through this process, do we really get what we want? Maybe?
The consensus amongst many is the same: we limit our levels of growth and rarely meet our greatest potential during the course of our brief life-spans. Instead, we prefer to stress out over one or two unachieved so-called "major goals." This redirects our focus to a few "safe" things to accomplish, never considering that our repressed or hidden talents may produce exactly the inspiration that we need in order to reveal our greatness. By drawing out these gifts, we can create incredible things for ourselves and others.
I believe we have a responsibility to take care of ourselves as best as we can; therefore, we must study the greatest and most effective methods of achievement. These will give us proven results instead of hypotheticals. Today, I challenge you to purposefully direct your learning by developing a plan to consciously educate yourself on a subject or a skill. Write out on paper (preferably a journal) at least eight concrete ways of how learning this information would change your life if you use it properly and intentionally. HAVE FUN!!
DON'T GET TOO EXCITED: Balance is key
Of course you probably won't become an expert in a subject after one week. However, you might be surprised at what you can learn in just thirty minutes a day thanks to the technological world we live in. Even as little as three hours of study per week can make a huge difference if used efficiently.
Seeing as how leaders should follow their own advice, I pledge to publicly demonstrate to all of you exactly what I mean by documenting my personal progress using these steps! I believe this is the most efficient way of educating and it will also be lots of fun! If you are serious about real growth, I encourage you to take this journey with me. I created these "efficiency methods" as a part of a more complex program (click on program's page) in which I introduce you to some of the ways to make your life as efficient as possible.
I will share all of them later. I know that the strategies that I will suggest to you will work because I have already used them to great effect in my own life! It's easy to start and goes something like this...
I will begin my journey by sharing with you something that I've always wanted to learn or discover. Then I will show you many of the steps that I will take to learn the information, while simultaneously showing you how my actions are actually profitable and really fun. So, in the words of Clifford..."Let's get started!"
LISTEN TO CLIFFORD & BLUE BERRY...
Let's start by determining what we want to learn either long term(example; to speak spanish) or short term(example; to sing a song for a family party). Currently, I am combining these together. My new goal is this: LEARN TO SING A SONG IN SPANISH PUBLICLY!
Now it's your turn. Begin to develop questions concerning your subject. Determine what are two or three facts you can learn about your goals and the topics surrounding them. For my goal this may look like researching the etymology of the song I want to sing or listening to various antique recordings of it. What does this look like for your goal? Take thirty minutes to research information on the subject. Studying others who have accomplished your goals in a certain way may be helpful.
Test your own ability in front of a real audience, be ready to hear the worse and be determine to make thing better.
Once I learn my song I will need to perform it in front of others in order to figure out what needs to be tweaked. Likewise be prepared to test your own ability by being prepared for criticism. I encourage you to embrace it, as it may end up assisting you in reaching your goals faster!.
Finally, I may conclude my day with the two questions below. I encourage you to try something similar and answer them sincerely.
WHAT DID YOU PURPOSEFULLY LEARN TODAY?
HOW CAN YOU EFFIENCTLY USE THIS LESSON TO BETTER YOUR...(LIFE)?
Make sure to Check out my assessment tools and Programs to make changes for the better. Let's both get a win-win, so I'll see you at the finish line!
Thank God and enjoy the spoils.
